About D-Mannose:

D-mannose, is a monosaccharide, naturally found in various plants, and fruits/berries, for instance in cranberries.
It is also known to be synthesized in the body from glucose for the synthesis of glycoproteins a monosaccharide naturally found in fruits, is commonly marketed as a dietary supplement for reducing the risk for UTIs.

Research suggests that supplemented D-mannose could be a promising alternative or complementary remedy especially as a prophylaxis for recurrent UTIs.

When excreted in urine, D-mannose potentially inhibits Escherichia coli, the main causative organism of UTIs, from attaching to urothelium and causing infection

D-mannose is commonly marketed as a dietary supplement for urinary tract health.
Research suggests that free D-mannose in urine has the potential to saturate E. v c coli FimH structures, and subsequently block E. coli adhesion to urinary tract epithelial cells.

This so-called competitive inhibition is considered as one of the potential mechanisms for preventing UTI development.

The rationale to the use of D-mannose in UTIs prophylaxis is based on its competitive inhibition of bacterial adherence to urothelial cells due to its similar structure to the binding site of type 1 fimbriae expressed on the bacteria (Schaeffer et al., 1980; Wellens et al., 2008; Altarac and Papes, 2013).

Moreover, due to this physical mechanism of action, D-mannose has a negligible risk of developing bacterial resistance, unlike antibiotics .

About UTI (urinary tract infection) and requirement of electrolyteMax top up along with hydration

Yes, it is possible to lose electrolytes when suffering from a urinary tract infection (UTI). This can occur due to several reasons:

1. *Increased Urination*: UTIs often cause frequent urination, which can lead to the loss of electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, and chloride.
2. *Fever and Sweating*: If a UTI causes a fever, the associated sweating can result in the loss of electrolytes.
3. *Vomiting and Diarrhea*: In some cases, especially with more severe infections or if the UTI spreads to the kidneys (pyelonephritis), symptoms can include vomiting and diarrhea, leading to further electrolyte imbalance.

Maintaining proper hydration and electrolyte balance is important, especially when dealing with an infection. If symptoms are severe or persistent, medical attention is necessary.
